Turkish secrets

Kaya Köyü, which stood here in abandoned after the great Forced moving in 1923 when the Greeks were forced to leave Turkey and the Turks were driven out of Greece - an ethnic cleansing that affected millions. Usually, they moved forced Greeks moved into the Turks abandoned housing, and vice versa. But this village, named Levissi when it was populated, have been put uninhabited since then. Most houses have no longer any ceiling and church ruin bears traces of the vandals. The fields belonged to the village cultivated by relatives of those who moved here after the Greeks - this grows tobacco, wheat and fruit. Today, visible traces of reconciliation, including arranged a reconciliation festival here for the Greeks and the Turks and the government has blocked plans for the exploitation of land for tourism purposes.

Just beyond Kaya Köyü, in the tourist resort Ovacik, reside in a mountain pass on the way to Ölüdeniz beach town, beginning on Lycian road. A hiking trail that winds all along the mountainous coast, mil for mil, which takes the walker high up in the mountains, to the small coastal villages, unspoiled bays and forests full of ancient remains. Hiking along the trail are the best or our LATE AUTUMN, when the heat is still continuing to do so on land and at sea. But summer is too hot. Instead, be it bus, taxi, for our part. There is regular buses along the coast, sometimes with departures every hour, on other routes more often.

Ölüdeniz is Turkey's most photographed beaches and those who want to can see it from the classic photo angle, straight from the top. Although in recent years been moving the start point to a slightly lower altitude is tandem paragliding from the 2 000 meter high mountain Baba Dagi a powerful experience. But down at her husband among Sunbathing can definitely congestion OVERWORK beauty experience.

Lykien mentioned frequently as one of the allies of Troy in Homer Illiaden. Government formation existed in various forms from 1 200 BC to 300's, when the area became part of Byzantium. There are lots of interesting ancient remains from the Lycian period, where the main cities was Xanthos, Patara, Myra, Pinar, Tlos and Olympia. All are interesting to visit than it is today, Patara and Olympos has the big plus that they also have nice beaches.

Traffic along the coastal road is rather sparse. The road is often a bit up in the mountains, among the pine forest, often glimpsed old Lycian tombs on the mountain sides - powerful, several tonnes of heavy stone sarcophagi that all looted. But sometimes reaches the steep mountains up to the sea and then winds its way up the road on a narrow LEDGE with lovely views. One or other narrow inlet cutting into the mountain where the seasonal rivers meet the sea and there are sometimes small sandy beaches, which sometimes can be reached via steep stairs, sometimes require boat transportation.

The first stop given by the sea on the journey east is Patara. Someone kilometers from the main road lies the small village Gelemis with a bunch of houses, a couple of pleasant hotels and a number of simple restaurants where you are Regulars in the second evening. Best housing is Patara Viewpoint on a ridge with great views. It is run by a Turkish-British couple who adopted what really good unobtrusive service means. In the mornings they run down their guests to the sea with a tractor trailer, on a small road that passes through the partially excavated ancient Patara, in the evenings WE WERE TREATED roast and drinks by the pool. The village is three kilometers from the sea and all the expansion is stopped because of the ancient remains. These, and the numerous sea turtles, has also put an end to all exploitation of one of the Mediterranean's longest beaches, nearly two mil long because beach where the waves roll in.

A day with congestion is perhaps 300 people in a two hundred meter area with sun loungers and a maximum one hundred sun to spreading out along the rest of the beach which ends in the mighty dunes. Some of those who walk farthest from the sunbed area taking the chance to nude bath - a rarity in Turkey.

Patara was famous in antiquity for its Apollo-oracle, which attracted long-distance travelers, and was an important venue. But the fine harbor was useless in the sand dunes move and the city was abandoned in the end. Today it is only partially dug up, the port is a swamp with rich bird life and it is exciting to explore. Usually it is the only visitor. Here are the parade streets, portals, palaces, a Byzantine church and a fine Greek theater surrounded by melon fields.

A little over a mil east of Patara lies Kalkan, for 15 years ago a small village shaped as an amphitheater, recently discovered by tourists. Before then, the 70 - and 80-century, the corners where the left intellectuals Turks withdrew from persecution. Today they would not recognize themselves. Hills, as before, at most, looked a little grazing goats, are covered with densely packed summer. Many British people own or rent a home here and down at the beautiful harbor is a bunch of good restaurants, where wine flows evening. From Kalkan add many beautiful wooden boats out each morning, with the tourists on board which may be a pleasant day at sea with swimming, snorkeling, sun and good food. There are also week-long gületturer along the coast from Fethiye, Kas and Antalya. During one week bad luck, it is not the journey that is important but the boats anchor in a new beautiful bay each day - one of the most soothing thing to do on a vacation.

The Lycian coast, with its many islands, is also Turkey's best diving. Kalkan and the small town of Kaş
, opposite the Greek island of Kastellorizo, which became world famous after the Italian film Mediterraneo, the largest number off diving companys.

Sure can find a lot of tourists to the small village Simen, east of Kaş
. A castle ruin crowning of course the little hill to climb in the village, the village is sometimes called for Kale, which means castle. But the road to Simen is poor. This can not coach well, but visitors come by boat. So when the late afternoon sun can heat to ease slightly and tourists continued elsewhere to return life to the old standard. Old ladys and uncles gather wild oregano that grows everywhere here and they then sell for peanuts to visitors. Stay at any of the pension departments do not like anything at all, more than enjoy the tranquility and views over Kekova island, with its mysterious sunken city, which will be seen clearly when crossing by boat.

A little further east lies Demre, a boring small farming town, where almost the whole of the valley covered by dirty white greenhouse plastic. But an hour is the host city. In what is now a suburb lies the ruins of the ancient city of Myra. The chamber has been refurbished and is impressive, as well as clips tombs, which look like facades to small palaces INTERMIXED in the rock.

I was Myra St. Nicholaus, a model for the land, the Bishop of 300's and now make pilgrimages especially Russian tourists here to see his church and to buy odd empty souvenirs in the middle of the summer.

The twin centers Olympos and Cirali, one-hour further east, are tough competitors to Patara to be the Lycian coast's best beaches. Olympos infringement in a narrow valley by the sea, the ancient ruins and a bunch of unique tree hotel, where mainly young backpack tourists happy in their simple cabins, where nothing you undertake and remain confidential for the neighbor on the branch next.

Cirali is located at the other end of several kilometers long beach covered by the beautiful sea-milled grit in hundreds of color changes. An impressive green sugar peak rises at one end and over 3 000 meters high mountains, with have snow well into the summer, forming a fund. Here are a number of small guesthouses and restaurants in the lush greenery. But all the expansion has now been stopped by the archaeological authorities. For more than walking distance (car or taxi is preferable) you can find one of the Mediterranean's most remarkable sights, chimaera, a series of mysterious big flame coming straight out of the mountain. Extinguishes a lit it again soon, or so beats new flames up another crack. Already in antiquity was the eternal fires known and it was thought that the mountain hid a fire breathing monster.

Apart from partying in the cabins is restored calm, the sea and friendly the local which is the large cash balance at the Olympos and Cirali.

From Cirali is two hours by bus to Antalya. But we make a detour up in the coastal mountains before we reach the city. Our journey began in a ruined city of some lunda modern date. Now we stop at another, but from ancient times. Termessos are among the most powerful ancient remains in Turkey. In particular, to the city built on a spectacular and inaccessible location - at the top of the top of a steep mountain over one thousand meters above sea level. Even today must walk a long distance up the steep paths before reaching the ruins, a sweaty tour well worth it. In the city street conceal cisterns where rainwater was stored and large parts of the massive city wall stands to this day. Termessos was even able to Alexander the Great's mighty army, which attacked the 333 years before Christ. But what helped the defense against the forces of nature - after a major earthquake were abandoned city on the 200-century. As we rest the legs in the gallery to the well-amphitheater, we glimpsed far down there in diset a lot dirty white high-rises as part of the fast-growing big city Antalya western suburbs - time for the 2000-voice again.

Same-sex marriage

Northern European countries were the first to recognise same-sex unions - a trend that picked up in the 1990s and eventually crossed the Atlantic. It became a polarising issue in the 2004 US elections, with voters in many states banning the practice.

It's really embassement for Sweden that Norway (our smaller neighbour country), is the faster then us to get a legal same-sex marriage. Norway is now amonge the 7 country in the wild world and the first in Scandinavia (Sweden,Denmark, Norway, Finland) to get legal same-sex marriage.

In a number of countries in Europe, the status of "registered partnership" has been established.

In 1989, Denmark became the first country to institute legislation granting registered same-sex partners the same rights as married couples. Church weddings are not allowed.

Norway, all enacted similar legislation in 1996, and now legal same-sex marriage.

Sweden and Iceland all enacted similar legislation in 1996, and Finland followed suit six years later.

Germany has allowed same-sex couples to register for "life partnerships" since 2001. The law only gives couples the same inheritance and tenants' rights as heterosexual married couples.

France in 1999 introduced a civil contract called the Pacs, which gives some rights to cohabiting couples, regardless of sex. These do not include the full rights of marriage, notably over taxes, inheritance and adoption. In 2004, a mayor conducted the country's first gay marriage, but it was later nullified by a court.

In U.S In 2000, Vermont became the first US state to offer homosexuals the right to join in civil unions, giving them the same benefits as married couples on matters such as life insurance, health care and child custody.

Argentina In July 2003 the first gay civil union took place, giving legal rights similar to those for heterosexual couples, but excluding adoption and inheritance rights. Argentina is the first country in Latin America to allow such unions.

In U.S California, San Francisco started issuing marriage licences to same-sex couples in February 2004, after the new mayor defied state law and allowed gay weddings. The move was later annulled by the state Supreme Court. But in March 2005 a San Francisco judge ruled that the law banning same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. In September 2005 a bill that would have legalised gay marriage was vetoed by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In Oregon, officials in the Portland area began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples in 2004, before an amendment to the state constitution banning such weddings was approved by voters in November. But Governor Ted Kulongoski said he would back a new law which would allow gay couples to form civil unions.

Massachusetts became the first state to issue marriage licences for gay couples in May 2004. State legislators have proposed a constitutional amendment that would ban gay marriages, but would allow civil unions. If the proposal passes further legal hurdles, it will go to the voters in a referendum in autumn 2006.

In Luxembourg, a law on civil partnerships largely inspired by the French model was introduced in 2004.

In December, 2004, New Zealand's parliament passed controversial legislation to recognise civil unions between gay couples.

In Britain, legislation came into force in December 2005 giving same-sex couples in registered partnerships similar rights to married couples, in areas such as pensions, property, social security, and housing.

In April 2005, Connecticut became the second US state to allow same-sex civil unions - and the first to do so without orders from a court. But it specifically defined marriage as being the union of a man and a woman.

* Full civil marriage rights

The Netherlands became the first country to offer full civil marriage rights to gay couples in 2001.

In neighbouring Belgium gay marriages were allowed in 2003.

Spain, too, legalised full marriage for gay couples in June 2005, despite fierce opposition from the Roman Catholic Church. Gay married couples can also adopt children.

Canada In July 2005, a bill to legalise same-sex marriage became law. Gay marriage was already legal in eight of 10 provinces and one of Canada's three territories.

Although homosexuality remains a taboo subject in many African societies, South Africa is a liberal country in terms of gay rights.

The post-apartheid constitution includes a clause making discrimination based on sexual identity illegal. Homosexual couples are allowed to adopt.

In December 2005 South Africa's high court said it was unconstitutional to deny gay people the right to marry, and instructed parliament to amend marriage laws to include same-sex unions within a year.

I will survive

At first I was afraid, I was petrified,
when you said you had 10 inches Lord
I almost died,
but I'd spent oh so many years just
waiting for a man that long,
that I grew strong, and I knew that
I could take you on.

But there you are, another lie,
I was ready for a big Mac and you've
bought me a french fry,
I should have known that it was
bull shit, just a sad pathetic dream,
should have known there was no
anaconda lurking in those jeans.

Go on now go, walk out the door,
don't you promise me 10 inches then
turn up with only 4,
weren't you a prat to think I
wouldn't catch you out,
don't you know we're only joking
when we say size doesn't count.

Chorus:
I will survive, I will
survive,
Cos as long as I have batteries, My
sex life's gonna thrive,
I will always have good sex with a
handful of latex,
I will survive,
I will survive...
hey hey.

It took all my self control not to
laugh out loud,
When I saw your little weiner
standing short and proud,
But to hell with all your egos and
to hell with all your needs,
Now I'm saving all my lovin' for a
cordless multispeed.

Go on now go, walk out the door,
don't you promise me 10 inches then
turn up with only 4,
weren't you a prat to think I
wouldn't catch you out,
don't you know we're only joking
when we say size doesn't count.

Exclusive Mauritius journey

I was dropping by Mauritius from Seyshelles in same journey and i was quite hillarous to explore this other island that was just three hours south from Seyshelles. I have been reading that Mauritius its an green beautiful island, especially the rocky southern part. Mauritius lays in the middle of Indian ocean, just east of Madagaskar. The island is quite small, but lot to offer. By my experience i could write a lot about the island but i have selected my most exlusive parts.

The inhabitats on the island have varying background as; india, english, french, afrikan and chinese. The most overwhelming experience is that they live quite in peace together even if they got different religions, churches, tempel and moské side by side.

The services at the hotel is very exlusive but you also see a troublesome poverty with real tinareas they live in and lots of half ready houses cos they cant afford paint there house or fix it at fully.

You could travel to Mauritius ”all-year-around” with sun and heat most of the year, without any big weather changes accept cyclon. The middle temperature on the day is between +26 to +30 degree. Mauritius has there summer between november-april. Then is hotter, more raindays, highseason with more tourists and higher prices. Between may-october its lowseason, more sunny days but cooler and easy to get cheaper hotelprices and less tourists. The water temperature is almost the same all year around, between 23-27 dergee. The night is sweet and the island got mild winds all year around.

A god spot to start your journey on Mauritius is Blue Bay southeast near airport. Lets stay one or two nights here then you could go up to eastcoast and to the Centre de Flacq wish is the island best travelsspot. Here you go by bus cheap only some mur and they got no timetable for bus. Trou d'Eau Douce and Bella Mare has the island most beatiful beaches and a fantastic corallreef. Here you could find some small hotel cheap only a few meters from the sea.

The westcoast also got nice beaches but they aint at the same good class as eastcoast. Some other populair seaside resort are Trou aux Biches and Flic en Flac.

The capitol city is Port Louis i could tell you not to miss the market in Port Louis. Curpipe is another place that offer cheap shopping by several cloathings (Billabong, Gant, Polo, Quicksilver, Miles Away.....). Mauritius its mostly ruled by indian hindues. First here was the Dutchman, year 1598. The was here for many hundred years, and use the island as a provisions, and the also exterminate many giant turtles and the most famous Mauritius bird - the clumsy, ugly dront "The Dodo".

* Nightlife
On the nothern part of the island at Pereybère and Grand Baie you could found several good but more expensive and exlusive shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

Up north at Grand Baie they got several pretty houses and just a gorgeous beach, but it is more expensive here then other spots at island. The hottest nightlife you could find here collected at Grand Baie on the northwest coast, El Diablo in Grand Baies is the hottest discotek, but as any other places it doesnt turn real hot after midnight at the weekends on Friday and Sundays. But more often you could find entertainment, nightclubs and discoteq inside at the big hotels, mostly for they who live there.

Le Morne peninsula is the south spot of Black River district. It has rumour to be the most african part of island, as the inhabitats its famous for the autentic ségadance and there kreol traditions.

Le Morne peninsula have two luxuary buildings as Berjaya le Morne Hotel and Beachcomber Le Paradise with a 18-hole golf course, deepsea fishing. The Hotel here offer diving and other watersports as waterski, sailing, snorkeling, skärmsegling, vattenskidåkning, windsurfing.

- Dolphins at the Tamarindbay.
To swim with dolhins at Tamarindbay is fantastic experience. They are wild so you dont can be 100% sure they will show up. But the chance is big. From the beach at Tamarind and Flic en Flac you could hire a boat and go out and reach the dolphins. Biggest chance to see them is at the morning between 8 am or erlier. If you like to swim with dolhpins you should hire a boat some days before to go and buy a underwater camera (you could get cheap ones). If you like to stay on the boat and only look at the dolphins you could take a dolphins journeyboat who take 15 people at the time, book it some days before at the beach.

* Fact; Mauritius (on spot 29 on the priceguide, 42% cheaper then Sweden). Language; Kreol, a mixture of french and english. Currency: Mauritiska rupier, 100 mur = cirka 26 kr.

Most tourists come from france and white people from south africa.

Car for rent coast 41-730 euro at day. Think its left traffic, very hard to find,
many cars and thin roads. A taxi its better for 62 euro for a whole day. If you have time and want to explore the island cheaper to get on bus.

* Food
The mixed food in Mauritius is miscellaneous and good. The creol kitchen is an mixture of east and west, with frech coconut, pineapple and mango. Fish of all kinds is a matter of course on an island, barbecue is also common among several restaurants with indian and chinese dishes at Mauritius. In the shops and market you will find exotic fruits, vegetables and other materials to fill up your refrigerator.

The exotic trip to Seychelles

After the flight from Sweden thru Denmark and Switzerland so I arrived to the main island Mahe on Seyshelles at the 4 south latitude from equator. The plane took 11 hours from Switzerland so I was terriable tired when I arrived 4 a clock EM.

A few days later I was strolling at the Beau Vallon Bay opposite thru the hill to the other side the capital city Victoria at Seyshelles.

I gently took my ordinary strolling at the dark streets on Beau Vallon and i was fashinated by the slow pace on the islands. Cos the only bars, discoteq and late restaurants you could join was on the hotels but as it doesnt suit me so well so i prefered to taked a long stroll and enjoyed the scenery at the countryside as i in same time was hearing the big bat flying every night which they collected the nectar.

I saw also many fruits by strolling the streets only as: Real big Durian (5 kg) just hanging at the tree and bumping into the grown. I also found Papaya, Lime, Tamarind and i was astonish to know that Vanilla was an orchid climbing the trees so wonderfull.

But the most exotic plant i saw was the Plumeriatree with the white and yellowflower sat on a big naked tree.

It was late at night and I was just passing by and I could smell an perfume from a tree nearby but I did not know from which then. I walk to a tree with white flowers and saw that naked leaf tree and wonder what it could be so I just snap a flower and the tree began too bleed (so it was poision). But it smell so good so I just snap off a couple off flowers just too take it back too the Sun Resort hotel and into my room. I thinked to myself this must be the flower of paradise.

I was also taking a bustrip to explore Victoria Botanic Garden, Spice Garden, and a half tour around Mahé with special local dishes.

Another thing i explore about this island was the famous landliving Aldabra tortoise. You could see them at Victoria Garden on Mahé island or go to Aldabraayatoll by plane.

My mobile cellar phone (with 1800 and 800 broadband) function very well on this island, i used it often so i know for sure.

The temperature is good 20-30ºC all year around.

Conditions for swimming, snorkelling and especially diving are superb during April/May and October/November when the water temperature sometimes reaches 29ºC and visibility is often 30 metres plus.

Explore this rich island by diving or snorkeling www.diveseychelles.com

If you want to learn more about the Seychelles island´s visit the official website www.seychelles.travel

You go there by Air Seychelles

Next exotic stop in this journey was Mauritius which is 3 hours south (by airplane) from Seychelles. I will sample and blogg about this later...
